In Science year 1 had to use their questioning and reasoning skills to work out what was the best way to get the dice from the ice blocks. They decided to try different methods to melt the ice. Some children decided to put one outside to see if the sun would melt it. Some other children put another one in the classroom as they predicted that the warmth of the classroom would melt it. The final method was to put over hot water. All the children had different predictions but were able to give reasons to explain these. We found out that the one with the hot water melted the quickest.
Finally we found out that water freezes because the water molecules loose their energy as they cool down and eventually they no longer move. This is when the water turns to ice.
We really enjoyed our Science experiment.
